BC Summer Games start tomorrow
The BC Summer Games kick off tomorrow night in Kelowna.
Organizers are breathing a little easier this week after finally hitting their target of nearly 3,000 volunteers needed to run the event.
President Ron Rubideau says there are some tickets still available for the opening ceremonies tomorrow, but they'll be sold on a first-come first-serve basis.
"Not everyone is going to get a chance to see the opening ceremonies but the floor has been reconfigured. We will have space for about 600-700 tickets and those are available for the general public, volunteers, parents, grandparents and athletes in Kelowna."
Rubideau says the athletes will stay at fourteen schools across the district and meals will be served at the curling rink.
He adds the games are financially on track due largely in part to local contributions of $525,000.
