Intermunicipal Scheme
The Okanagan's four largest municipalities are teaming together to provide some consistancy in the Valley. Kelowna, the Westside, Penticton and Vernon are embarking on a Intermunicipal Service Scheme that would see bylaws put into place valley-wide. Kelowna Mayor Sharon Shepherd says they were looking at a way to have similar approaches to some common issues. The bylaw partnerships would be for several issues including affordable housing, sustainability and transit. Shepherd says once one municipality approves a bylaw the other three will have the opportunity to put it into place - but with no obligation to do so.
