Sewer Upgrades
Penticton city council is going ahead with plans to upgrade the sewer system without government funding. Council was waiting for several million dollars in grants for the thirty million dollar project but has decided to start on it without the funds. The project includes twenty-one and a half million dollars in upgrades to the system, and another seven point eight million dollars for the Lee Avenue pumping station. The city's director of development and engineering services Mitch Moroziuk says the plant needs upgrading to keep up with the sludge removal process during the peak summer months. Council approved borrowing nine-point-six million dollars to start the project.
